I work with talented young theatre artists from systemically underrepresented communities. They are worthy of these important opportunities. But the labor abuse embedded in your current apprenticeship program excludes them from the American theatre, thereby perpetuating a predominately white, exclusive (and "dying out') industry. Income inequality is endemic in our racist society as a means of maintaining white supremacist power and control. I call upon your organization to boldly break the historic barriers of exclusivity and put real financial support into your stated goals of equity, diversity and inclusivity.
